About Hullbridge Parkinson’s Cafe

Hello and welcome.

My name is Colin Rickards. I have been living with Parkinson’s for more than 20 years. Despite the challenges, I continue to lead an active life through golf, walking and keeping mentally engaged with a variety of activities.

Hullbridge Parkinson’s Cafe was created to offer something simple but important — a place where people living with Parkinson’s, along with their carers and families, can come together, relax and enjoy each other’s company.

We are based in Hullbridge, Essex, and our aim is to provide a friendly, welcoming environment where no one feels alone in their journey with Parkinson’s.

Our Mission

Living with Parkinson’s can be challenging, not only physically but emotionally and socially. Our mission is to create a supportive local community where people can:

  • Connect with others who understand Parkinson’s
  • Share experiences in a relaxed setting
  • Enjoy regular social interaction
  • Support one another through the journey

We believe that community, conversation and companionship play a vital role in living well with Parkinson’s.

Support & Organisation

I have supported the creation of the café from the beginning and continue to help ensure it runs smoothly while supporting my husband in this journey.

I am incredibly proud of my father and am committed to helping the café grow and support as many people as possible.
